 SUPERMARKETS

Many people like going to supermarket when they need to buy something. Supermarket is a grocery store that offering a wide variety of food and household merchandise and larger in size. Has a wider selection than a traditional grocery store. There are many products that are consumed regularly or non food items. However, there are pros and cons of supermarkets.

A clean supermarket
From supermarket we can get more advantages. For example they are mostly clean because when they look dirty the consumers will not buy something from it. The consumers will think that the store had been contaminated with germs and bacteria. Supermarket often give special promotion offers like “buy one get one” or give discount to be more attractive for consumers. There is available a parking area, most of them free of parking rates. Open 24 hours nonstop, like Indomart, Alfamart and other. So we can buy something that we need every time. And most of supermarket already have other service, may include those of banks, cafes, childcare centres, WC, mosque, stands, photo processing, video rental, pharmacies and petrol  stations.

Traditional market
However, supermarkets also have disadvantage. First, facing small shops or traditional market out of business. Not always, but it does happen, especially when ridiculously over sized stores open beside small shops or a traditional market. They are losing customers and at last closing their store. And other disadvantage is less socialization. Conversation that can be found in traditional market. In traditional market we can find that happen a transaction between seller and buyer. And there is not happen in supermarket.

There are many advantages and disadvantages of supermarkets. Therefore we must can be reduce our desire to buy many goods that can make us to be a consumerism. We can buy just that we need. Because when we go to supermarket, most of us spend more money as there we just looking for some items that we don’t need and wasting our time.

  1. I choose supermarkets for my discussion text, because when we need something, we always / mostly go to supermarkets like minimarket, hypermarket etc.

Besides open for 24 hours nonstop (this condition is contrast with traditional markets) but also provides a wide range of goods that is used / needed day to day.
